Now that the Christmas holiday is past, the next thing on the horizon is the new year of 2009. We plan/hope to visit with friends in a city south of here. A couple that we have known for decades have agreed to meet us for dinner Tuesday night, and then Wednesday night we'll go to the church they serve (he's the senior pastor) and see in the changing of the years with friends there.
A sad/happy note intercedes: an elderly friend passed away this last week and will be buried on Tuesday, so we hope to be able to attend her funeral. The funeral home is on the same road that our lodgings are on, so it shouldn't be hard to find in that large city. This elderly friend was a joy and an inspiration during her life here on earth, so we're actually looking forward to "saying goodbye". She was a faithful witness to our Lord while she lived here on earth, so I'm sure she's happy now, and though it's hard to think of her not being on earth, we can picture her in heaven, knowing she's happy there.
