A little "catching up" . . .
It's been more than six months since I've posted, and several things of note have occurred, so I'm doing a little "catch-up" post in preparation for the next big event--our trip to the Philippines in mid-January. I hope to be able to post from Davao City on the island of Mindanao while we're there. But a brief look back to the last six months (although I know I'll probably forget more than one thing . . .) but here goes:

In September, I attended a True Woman conference in Indianapolis, and was greatly blessed to be present at that. I very much enjoyed it, and one of the highlights of the Conference was obtaining a book by Devi Titus titled "The Table Experience", which encourages eating family dinner nightly. I'm still digesting this book with further study, and have obtained more books on the subject. It's very encouraging . . .

In October, we went on a cruise through the western Caribbean, stopping at ports in Roatan, Honduras, and in Cozumel, Mexico. We had a stateroom with a balcony, and spent most of our time on the balcony, reading. We took advantage of room service most days for breakfast and enjoyed our meal on the balcony, while traveling on the water. We didn't take in any of the shows, we didn't go to the casino onboard -- actually we would appear to some to be fuddy-duddies, but we had a relaxing time and enjoyed the cruise very much.

When the ship docked in Miami, and after we debarked, the next day we headed up the east coast of Florida, stopping in St. Augustine for a couple of nights. We enjoyed touring the oldest city in the United States, and learned much history. I had read the book "Maria" by Eugenia Price (which is set in St. Augustine, and based on a true story), and we enjoyed visiting the house where Maria lived in St. Augustine. It was a pleasant time, but we were glad to get home after being gone so long. We are truly homebodies at heart.

We were alone Thanksgiving as our son and his family traveled south to Mississippi to visit with his sister and her family for Thanksgiving. We had a quiet Thanksgiving, but are so thankful for so many blessings, that it was a pleasant time. Now Christmas is over (our son and family were over for the day) and we look forward to the New Year.

We plan to go to the Philippines next month and I will try to send at least one blog post from there while we are there . . .

Until then . . .
Elaine
